Beta Finance operates as a permissionless money market on the Ethereum network, facilitating borrowing, lending, and shorting of crypto assets. This platform offers users access to a scalable and easily accessible money market, where tokens can be listed automatically and without requiring permission, enabling users to short these tokens. Following its launch on the Ethereum Mainnet, Beta Finance intends to extend its reach to additional layer one and layer two solutions. Users are presented with three main options: lending, borrowing, and shorting. Lenders have the opportunity to lend crypto assets for any market available on Beta Finance and earn interest on their holdings. Borrowers can take the opposing position, while short-sellers can utilize collateral to initiate short positions. Unlike centralized exchanges, Beta Finance does not employ an order book for executing shorts; instead, it directs trades through decentralized exchanges employing automated market makers. As part of its Phase 2 rollout, the platform aims to introduce permissionless money market creation.
