Axie Infinity is a blockchain-based game where players collectively own and operate the platform. Taking inspiration from popular games such as Pokémon and Tamagotchi, Axie Infinity enables players to collect, breed, nurture, battle, and trade token-based creatures known as Axies. These Axies come in a variety of forms, with over 500 different body parts available, spanning aquatic, beast, bird, bug, plant, and reptile categories. Each body part is categorized into one of four rarity tiers: common, rare, ultra rare, and legendary. Axies can possess any combination of these body parts, resulting in high variability and often rarity and uniqueness. Each Axie functions as a non-fungible token (NFT) with unique attributes and strengths, capable of participating in 3v3 battles. Victorious teams earn experience (exp) points, used to level up an Axie's stats or evolve its body parts. Axies can also be bred together to produce new offspring, which can be utilized or traded on the Axie marketplace. The Axie Infinity ecosystem also introduces its governance token, Axie Infinity Shards (AXS). These tokens enable participation in key governance decisions, granting holders influence over the allocation of funds in the Axie Community Treasury.
