IRISnet, a service protocol and cryptocurrency, was officially introduced on March 1, 2019. The core objective of the IRISnet protocol is to furnish small and medium-sized enterprises with a blockchain-based, open network for delivering a diverse range of services. As outlined in the official IRISnet Whitepaper, the protocol endeavors to leverage various public and consortium blockchains to extend the benefits of decentralized, open networks to a multitude of businesses and independent service providers. Notably, the name "IRISnet" draws inspiration from Iris, the embodiment of the rainbow and the messenger of the Gods in Greek mythology.
