Functioning without the need for trusted intermediaries, Bitcoin Cash embodies a permissionless and decentralized cryptocurrency framework. Emerging as an alternative to Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash diverged from its predecessor in 2017 when developers modified the BTC codebase, releasing their software iteration as a fully competitive product. This divergence led to the splitting of the original Bitcoin blockchain into two separate entities: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
