Coincheck operates as a centralized cryptocurrency exchange (CEX) with a global user community, particularly prominent in Japan. Positioned as one of Asia's leading crypto platforms in terms of liquidity, trading volume, and traffic, Coincheck is registered under Japanese authorities, regulated by Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA), and audited by the Japan Blockchain Association.

The exchange supports 17 popular large-cap cryptocurrencies, primarily traded against the Japanese yen, although the US dollar is also accepted. Users can make fiat deposits through bank transfers or bank cards, with customer digital assets stored in cold wallets.
